You use this black EPDM 70 O-ring seal from ERIKS for acids, bases and hot water. This product is suitable for static applications and slow, dynamic applications. It offers standardised quality and is mainly used in general industry.
Application
Temperature resistance
This O-ring has an operating temperature range of -55°C to +130°C. Is the temperature in your application higher than +130°C, due to the presence of steam for example? If so, choose Compound 55915.
Maximum pressure
Compound 55914 has a Shore A hardness of 70. This means that this O-ring is suitable for applications with a pressure of up to 80 bars. Furthermore, the guidelines in the chart below must be adhered to. This chart shows the relationship between the pressure in your application, the hardness of your O-ring, the groove size and the sealing gap.
Are you going to use this EPDM O-ring seal in a slow, dynamic application with a pressure of 50 bars or higher? If so, we advise you to use back-up rings.
Chemical resistance
This EPDM rubber offers good resistance to acids, bases and hot water. In addition, it is resistant to ozone and UV radiation. This material is not suitable for applications that involve exposure to greases and mineral and animal oils.
